Biography Richard E. Lingenfelter was born on April 5, 1934, in Farmington, New Mexico. He received his B.A. in physics from UCLA in 1956 and was a Fulbright Research Scholar at the TATA Institute for Fundamental Research in 1968-69. He held research positions at Lawrence Radiation Laboratory (1957-1962) and at UCLA's Institute of Geophysics and Planetary Physics (1969-1979).
